About My Career

Graduating from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a bachelors degree in marketing, my passion for this industry started earlier than most when I first took marketing then advanced marketing electives all the way back in high school!

Despite the career clarity I had early-on, I found myself in the last semester of senior year of college with a clear direction forward to begin my career.  As fate would have it, when it came time to enroll in classes that semester, I saw an "advertising" class that was completely full. Undeterred, I approached the professor, a former Ogilvy veteran, and asked if there was any wiggle room in her class size. Being a new (and cool, and inspirational, and experienced, and passionate) she worked with me and the department head to make an allowance! And that is when I was exposed to the amazing discipline of advertising! I enjoyed that class so much!!

I clicked with that advertising class so well that after graduating, I was able to do an internship at my advertising professor's ad agency before moving to D.C. where I then became an account coordinator at the largest advertising agency in the D.C. area, LMO Advertising.  During my time in D.C., I worked on a major national brand alongside top industry professionals where I gained experience that has laid a foundation upon my career, excelling me towards providing meaningful client service and results.

When I moved back to Richmond, VA I became the marketing director for a Virginia law firm where I applied my multi-departmental advertising account management knowledge first-hand, now on the same side of the table as my client.

I realized once I was a marketing director, it was all up to one department, so I taught myself everything I could about search engine optimization, pay per click, web development, paid social, and other digital marketing tactics that could benefit my client. After gaining this client-side perspective, I contracted with a healthcare ad agency as an account manager where I discovered my ability to work with my clients to improve their brand image while maximizing consumer engagement within their desired service lines.

Around this time, I voluntarily completed a bootcamp after work to learn the basics of writing HTML and CSS code along with other web development. I also took it upon myself to earn an inbound marketing certification from Hubspot to leverage that important strategy, on top of finally getting Google Analytics and Google Ads certified. I then accepted a marketing specialist position at a regional startup company in an emerging yet regulated industry where I was able to apply and learn thorough marketing applications in e-commerce, organic social, retail, and wholesale through a managerial perspective.

Seeking more involvement in SEM, I joined an ad agency back in the D.C. area mostly remotely where I worked directly with dozens of clients to manage SEO, but predominantly PPC and paid social campaigns first-hand. Ever since then, I’ve continued remotely exhibiting my passion to help ad agencies make an impact for a wide range of client sizes and niches, eventually becoming a specialist in, and coaching, digital acquisition
